Jenn has worked with children (8 yrs plus) and families for over 20 years, giving her the ability to work with most of the common mental health concerns such as, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, ADHD and life transitions. She utilizes approaches/skills of: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Client-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Modalities and Mindfulness. Her focus is to keep a family healthy (with an individual client or more members) no matter what that ends up looking like. There is not one solution to any one situation.
About:
When you first meet “Jenn” you will see how passionate she is about her work by her positive energy and genuine interest in getting to know you. She is very easy to relate to as she has a large variety of interests but more importantly, she cares about you; she doesn’t know how not to. Jenn’s ability to be an active listener, helps you feel heard and understood. Due to her extensive training and experience, she uses a wide variety of tools and approaches depending on what you are needing help with. Your work with her will be a fully catered treatment experience.
Jenn’s ability to be present with you, goes unmatched. Her strength of curiosity translates well into her therapeutic work as she is not only invested in listening to your concerns but also motivated to find ways to help you see a new perspective you haven’t considered before.
Beyond her years of experience as a therapist, her education has helped form her therapeutic approach.
Jenn is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). She attended Mankato State University for her undergrad and received her graduate degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia.
As impressive as her educational journey has been, her professional work is unmatched. She spent over a decade of her career working as a in-home crisis worker in Minneapolis and the surrounding tri-county area. She continues to see children in the school setting, leading to a high level of expertise and perspective. There is very little Jenn has not heard of or helped with.
Additional Work Experience:
Jenn has now been doing outpatient work for over 3 years, earning a reputation in the twin cities for the ‘go to’ therapist to offer help when it feels like others have not been helpful. This is due to the obvious reasons, 20 years of experience but more importantly, because she has worked with so many couples and families at their worst and collaboratively found a way to help them recognize their ability to move forward and find stability.
With a focus on family dynamics, Jenn excels in helping parents improve relationships and communication within their families, whether traditional, blended, or co-parenting situations. She values therapy as a safe space for self-discovery and personal growth, integrating trauma-informed, psycho-dynamic, and person-centered approaches with mindfulness techniques.
The best part of the work that Jenn provides, is you won’t even notice what or how she is doing it. You will feel at ease by the end of your first session and depending on how much time you invest in your therapy homework outside of session and how frequently you are seen, it will take very little time to see your work and hers, pay off. You will quickly find yourself looking at life differently, looking forward to your next session and seeing immediate results.
