Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a fully licensed behavioral health clinician in Minnesota:

  • Licensed Psychologist (LP)

  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

This is a renewable independent contractor position. Ideal candidate will want to stay for 2 plus years.

About the Role

This position is rarely open. Our clinic and services are in high demand, and we’re looking for another talented clinician to help meet the needs of our community.

The highest demand we are seeing right now are the following: Couples work, Children, Adolescents, trauma, Afternoon and Evening availability. We would LOVE to add diversity to the team as well.

  • Contract type: Fee-split independent contractor

  • Fee split: Up to 72/28, based on your gross receivables per pay period

  • Estimated annual income:

    • Master’s-level clinician seeing ~20 90837 sessions/week (with ~3 weeks off): approx. $103,000

    • Doctoral-level clinician seeing ~20 90837 sessions/week (with ~3 weeks off): approx. $137,200

  • Average take-home per 90837 session:

    • Master’s level: about $105

    • Doctoral level: about $140

We maintain a high collection rate (over 97% of charges) due to:

  • In-house billing

  • Clear clinic policies that align with our values

  • Up-to-date insurance verification

  • Credit card on file and weekly account collections

  • Open, respectful communication with clients about balances

Most importantly, clients value the care they receive and are willing to invest in their treatment.

About Dr. Brecke Counseling Group

We are a small, supportive group practice with a peaceful, welcoming office environment in Eagan. Our clinicians are collaborative, professional, and kind. We intentionally keep the team small so relationships and communication can be authentic and sustainable.

We strongly value diversity, equity, and inclusion and serve people from many different backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. We welcome clinicians who bring diverse perspectives, identities, and areas of expertise.

Current unmet demand includes (but is not limited to):

  • EMDR

  • IFS

  • Adolescents

  • Couples

  • Children

  • Eating disorders

  • Addiction

  • Trauma-focused work

We are currently placing many clients on a waitlist due to limited clinician availability.

Is This You?

You might be a great fit if:

  • You’re a talented clinician who cares deeply about your clients but doesn’t feel fully appreciated or fairly compensated where you are now.

  • You highly value your personal time
  • This job is better suited for those that love to get in and get out.
  • It allows you to get into the office, put your head down, make a bunch of great connections, help others see their full potential and leave at the end of your day, feeling full of satisfaction for the work you did and find you still have energy for your loved ones on your workdays. This is not easy to find in large clinic settings or even in PP when all of the work is on your shoulders.
  • The time commitment of this position allows you to spend the majority of your week doing exactly what you want to do. Not working. Plan for an additional 2 hours of coordinating and clinical work, outside of your session if you are averaging 20 sessions a week.
  • You’re feeling restless or ready for a change in environment, values, or team culture.

  • You prefer to focus on high-quality clinical work rather than office politics, constant meetings, or micromanagement.

  • You value autonomy, choose the clients you work best with, and appreciate a clinic that respects your professional judgment.

  • You are self-directed and motivated, and you want your income to reflect your effort and clinical skill.

  • You understand the complex nature of being in your own practice and how many hats you have to wear.

If this sounds like you, please read on!

Schedule & Work Structure

  • Hours: Desire a minimum of 18+ clinical hours per week

  • Since this is a contract position, there is not a “billable” requirement, however because the contract is based on gross revenue, this would not be an attractive position for someone who only wants to see 12-14 people a week as the fee split is much lower with those numbers. The owner is looking for someone who really wants to make a comfortable living. A person who will value each referral they receive and work hard to obtain and retain clients. If you are not a self-motivated person who cares about building up a strong, healthy caseload, then this is not a good fit. Private practice is not for all therapists.
  • Hybrid model:

    • In-office days available most days of the week

    • Telehealth from home is available

    • Fully remote may be possible in the future if client demand remains strong for telehealth and fits clinic needs

  • Office use: Minimum of 6 hours per in-office day if you’re using an office

  • Client access times: To meet client demand, each clinician is asked to open 6 sessions after 3pm or before 9am (e.g., a few evenings or early mornings) for working professionals.

You decide what days and hours work best for you, based on what’s available. You are in your own private practice within the support of a group setting. It’s a partnership.

What We Offer

As a contractor with Dr. Brecke Counseling Group, you receive:

  • High-quality referrals – We currently have a waitlist

  • In-house billing with a dedicated billing specialist

  • Electronic health record (EHR) and electronic billing

  • Furnished, private office space with:

    • Warm décor

    • High ceilings

    • Natural light

    • Lots of plants
    • Sound privacy

  • Marketing support and assistance with onboarding

  • Professional, supportive colleagues

  • Optional social hours to build connection outside of session time (each month we do a consultation or a social outing)

It’s private practice, with administrative support.

We do not contract with low-paying insurance panels in an effort to maintain integrity in the field and to compensate clinicians fairly for the expertise and emotional labor this work requires.

Benefits & Considerations

This role does not include traditional employer-provided benefits (e.g., health insurance), as it is a 1099 contractor position.

If you are looking for employment with benefits included, this would not be a fit.

  • The higher fee split and income potential can substantially offset the cost of purchasing individual insurance.

  • There are multiple affordable health insurance options through MNsure and other sources, and we are happy to discuss what has worked for other contractors.

This position is best suited for someone who:

  • Enjoys autonomy and flexibility

  • Is comfortable managing their schedule

  • Is motivated to build and maintain a steady caseload

  • Values a collaborative, respectful team environment

Job Description – Clinical Responsibilities

Type: Outpatient therapy (in-office and/or telehealth)

You will:

  • Provide individual, couple, and/or family therapy (based on your scope and preference)

  • Complete diagnostic assessments

  • Develop and update treatment plans

  • Maintain accurate and timely progress notes and discharge summaries (if completing paperwork is a struggle for you, this is not going to be a good fit)

  • Coordinate care with other providers when medically or clinically appropriate

  • Follow all applicable license laws, ethical standards, and clinic policies

You work independently under your own license and LLC while being part of a group practice structure.

Requirements

  • Fully licensed in Minnesota as:

    • LP, LPCC, LICSW, LMFT, or equivalent

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience as a fully licensed behavioral health professional

  • Credentialed (or credentialable) with most major insurance carriers, such as:

    • HealthPartners, Cigna, Aetna, BCBS, Medica, UBH/UHG, UMR, First Health, Sanford Health, UCare.

  • Comfortable working independently and managing a caseload

  • Passionate about serving diverse populations (adolescents, adults, couples, or a combination)

  • Willing to offer some early morning or late-afternoon/evening sessions to meet client demand

Location

Our clinic is conveniently located near 35E and Yankee Doodle Road in Eagan, MN:

  • Less than 10 minutes from St. Paul

  • Less than 15 minutes from Minneapolis

You can learn more about us and see photos of the clinic at:

Income & Caseload

  • Income is primarily determined by:

    • Number of weekly sessions

    • Payer mix

    • Fee split tier (which increases with higher revenue)

  • The more consistent and full your caseload, the higher your income potential.

This position works well for clinicians who are self-motivated, steady, and engaged in building and maintaining strong therapeutic relationships.

If you prefer a highly structured environment with frequent oversight, this may not be the best fit. If you value autonomy plus support when you need it, you may thrive here.
