Trauma-Informed Therapist Specializing in EMDR, IFS, and Addiction Counseling
Uyanga Bayandalai is a trauma therapist in Eagan, MN who works with individuals (18 plus) and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and life transitions. With over a decade of clinical experience and a doctoral-level background, she brings a deep, integrative approach to therapy — one that honors your full complexity and supports lasting, meaningful change.
About Uyanga Bayandalai, PhD, LPCC, LADC
Uyanga believes therapy should be a space where you can exhale. Her approach is grounded in creating a calm, attuned, and collaborative environment where meaningful change can unfold naturally — and at your own pace.
Her approach draws from a relational, trauma-informed lens, integrating EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and other evidence-based approaches. Together, you will gently explore the patterns, experiences, and internal dynamics that may be keeping you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected.
Clients often come to Uyanga when they are carrying a great deal internally — navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, or addiction — while still maintaining the outward appearance of managing it all. You may be highly capable and self-aware, yet feel weighed down by persistent patterns or a sense that something isn’t quite working.
Above all, Uyanga views therapy as a space for integration rather than correction. You are not something to be fixed — you are someone to be understood. From that understanding, growth becomes not only possible, but inevitable.
Specialties & Clinical Focus
Uyanga provides therapy for individuals and couples seeking support with:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
- Depression and mood-related challenges
- Addiction and substance use
- Life transitions and identity shifts
- Relationship challenges — individuals and couples
- A sense of feeling stuck, disconnected, or misaligned
Uyanga has deep expertise supporting individuals who are highly functional on the outside but carrying significant internal weight — people who are ready to move beyond symptom management toward deeper, lasting change.

Therapeutic Approaches & Methods
Uyanga draws from a range of evidence-based and depth-oriented approaches tailored to each individual:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
A highly effective, research-supported therapy for processing trauma and distressing memories. Uyanga completed specialized EMDR training through the Therapist Education Institute and uses it as a core part of her trauma work.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
A powerful model for understanding the different “parts” of ourselves — including the protective patterns and wounded places that drive our behavior. Uyanga is trained in IFS through the IFS Institute and weaves it throughout her relational, depth-oriented work.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Mindfulness practices are integrated to help clients develop greater present-moment awareness, emotional regulation, and self-compassion — building the internal resources needed for lasting change.
Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectical-Behavioral Strategies (CBT / DBT)
Practical, skills-based tools drawn from CBT and DBT are used as needed to support symptom management, emotional regulation, and behavioral change alongside deeper therapeutic work.
Relational and Trauma-Informed Framework
All of Uyanga’s work is grounded in a relational, trauma-informed approach — one that honors the impact of lived experience, creates genuine safety in the therapeutic relationship, and supports integration rather than correction.
Uyanga’s Therapy Approach
Uyanga brings a steady, thoughtful, and nonjudgmental presence to every session. Her style balances depth-oriented exploration with practical tools for real, lasting change — creating space where clients feel both supported and gently challenged.
Clients describe therapy with Uyanga as:
- Calm, attuned, and deeply respectful
- Integrative — drawing on EMDR, IFS, mindfulness, and more
- Depth-oriented, with real tools clients can use outside of sessions
- Focused on lasting change, not just symptom relief
- Inclusive and affirming of diverse backgrounds and identities
Uyanga often reminds clients:
“You are not something to be fixed — you are someone to be understood. From that understanding, growth becomes not only possible, but inevitable.”
